The IMD and forecaster Punjabrao Dakh expect scattered rain and thunder in parts of Maharashtra, as a Bay of Bengal low-pressure area turns into a cyclonic storm.

Although November has begun, Maharashtra's weather is turning unsettled, with rain clouds gathering once again. The sudden change, coming as winter sets in, has worried ordinary people and farmers alike.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and weather expert Punjabrao Dakh have forecast unseasonal rain in parts of the state between November 1 and 4, 2026. In some places, local weather conditions could also bring thunderstorms with rain. A low-pressure belt in the Bay of Bengal is said to have developed into a cyclonic storm.

According to the weather department, the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal will turn into a cyclonic storm within the next 24 hours. The storm could reach the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha by the evening of November 2 and is expected to enter Odisha on November 3. Between November 1 and 7, air pressure over Maharashtra will be 1012 hectopascals. In Vidarbha and in Sangli, Solapur, Ahilyanagar, Dharashiv and Beed districts, the speed of north-easterly winds will rise to 7 to 10 km per hour.

On sea temperatures, the surface of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean has reached 30 degrees Celsius and that of the Bay of Bengal 31 degrees Celsius. In the Pacific Ocean, 24 degrees has been recorded near Peru, 29 degrees near Ecuador and Colombia, and 30 degrees near Honduras. The effect of El Nino will therefore continue.

During this period, both maximum and minimum temperatures will begin to fall. Hours of sunshine will shorten and nights will lengthen. The weather will be cold and dry. Humidity will be high in the morning and moderate in the afternoon.

According to Dakh's forecast, there will be scattered rain at many places in the state on November 1, 2, 3 and 4, with thunder. Thundershowers are more likely in Pune district and the ghat areas of Pune. Rain is also possible in Kolhapur (including its ghat areas), Satara and Sangli districts. Solapur district is expected to stay mostly dry.

Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur and Yavatmal districts in Vidarbha may get rain with thunder. Showers with lightning are expected in Latur and Dharashiv districts of Marathwada.

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city and surrounding areas, clouds gathered suddenly this afternoon and there was light rain. Apart from the first few days, this year's monsoon season was dry, so people had been waiting eagerly for rain. Today's rain has brought a little coolness to the air.

In Ashti area of Beed district, clouds gathered and it rained yesterday evening, bringing some relief in the form of cooler air. Even so, the wait for heavy rain across Beed district is not over, and farmers continue to look anxiously at the sky.
