UGC-NET December 2026: NTA opens window to correct names in forms till November 4

The last date to apply for the UGC-NET December 2026 examination has passed. Candidates who made a mistake while filling in the form now have a chance to fix it. The NTA has started a correction window for changes in the online application form.

The NTA has allowed time till November 4, 2026. The window opened on November 2, 2026 and will remain open until 11:50 pm on November 4, 2026. A spelling mistake or an error in the details in the form can later become a major problem, which is why this opportunity has been given.

When an online form is filled in a hurry, typing errors in the name, the parents' names or other details are common. Keeping this difficulty of students in view, the NTA has said that the necessary changes can be made on the portal within the stipulated period.

Candidates can correct one of the following in their online form: their own name, the father's name or the mother's name.

Some details cannot be changed in any way. These include the mobile number, email address, permanent and present address, and the photograph and signature, that is, the uploaded images. It is therefore important to take particular care over these when submitting the form.

The correction process is simple. First, go to the official UGC-NET website, https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in. A link named "UGC-NET Dec 2026 Application Correction" will appear on the homepage; click on it. Then log in to the portal with the application number and password.

Once the dashboard opens, open the application form and go to the edit option provided in it. Fill in the correction to the name or the parent's name carefully and accurately. Check the entered details once more, because there will be no second chance after that. Finally, submit the form as final, and keep a printout or PDF of the revised page for future reference.

There is also some advice for students. Do not wait until the last moment. Though time is available until 11:50 pm on November 4, it would be advisable to finish the work by today or tomorrow to avoid a rush on the server at the last minute.

When changing a name or a parent's name, make sure the spelling matches exactly with the Class 10 or graduation marksheet. Those getting the form corrected at a cyber cafe should check every spelling on the screen themselves, very carefully, before submitting.
