Two killed as container falls from flyover onto roadside eatery in Jalna's Bhagyanagar

Two people, including the driver, were killed when a container fell from a flyover onto a roadside eatery in the Bhagyanagar area of Jalna city.

The accident took place at about 11 pm on October 31. The container was travelling at high speed on the flyover when it went out of the driver's control. It broke through the railing and fell onto the eatery next to the flyover. The container was completely smashed, and both people died on the spot.

One of the dead is the container driver. The other was either at the eatery or from the surrounding area. People living nearby ran to the spot on hearing a loud crash.

The impact was so severe that the container's cabin and the eatery were both badly damaged. Local police and residents reached the spot soon after being alerted. Rescue work was carried out on a war footing to recover the bodies from the debris and help those trapped there.

Traffic was held up in Bhagyanagar for some time after the accident, and tension prevailed in the area. Deep grief has been expressed across Jalna city over the incident.

No further details are available on how the container went out of the driver's control. Relief and rescue work began the same night with the help of police and local residents.
