A well-known builder was attacked with acid at night in Malkapur in Buldhana district. The victim is Rakesh Talreja. The attack was carried out by an unidentified assailant. The incident has caused alarm not only in Malkapur town but across Buldhana district, and traders and residents are fearful after the attack on a prominent businessman.

According to information received, Talreja was standing near his house in the Sindhi Colony area of Malkapur, talking to friends late last night. After finishing the conversation, he was walking towards his home when an unidentified attacker lying in wait suddenly threw acid at him. Before Talreja could understand what was happening, the acid fell on his face and eyes. The acid severely damaged the skin of his face and both his eyes.

After the attack, the accused fled the spot under cover of darkness. Hearing Talreja's screams of pain, people nearby and his friends rushed to him. Residents promptly admitted him to the government hospital in Malkapur.

In the initial examination, doctors found that the acid attack was very intense and that he had suffered extremely serious injuries to the face, especially the eyes. Given his condition and the urgent need for eye treatment, doctors at the local hospital referred him at once to a specialist eye hospital in Jalna. He is currently being treated there under the supervision of a medical team. His condition is reported to be critical.

On receiving news of the incident, a team from Malkapur police station and senior officers reached the spot and the hospital at once. Police have started examining CCTV footage from the area. They are also questioning closely whether Talreja had a business rivalry, an old dispute or any other personal enmity.

Police teams are working to find out who the attacker was and why, or at whose instigation, he did this. The accused is still absconding. Police have expressed confidence that he will be arrested soon.
