Ambazari police in Nagpur have arrested two men accused of targeting buildings under construction in the city for theft. They are alleged to have stolen electric wire and AC copper pipelines from a building under construction in the Gandhinagar area. Police have seized the stolen goods and the motorcycle used in the crime.
According to police, the theft took place on the night of October 7 in Gandhinagar, under the Ambazari police station limits. A complaint was lodged with police about the theft of electric wire and AC copper pipelines from the complainant's building under construction.
Police began an investigation after receiving the complaint. During the probe, on October 10, they received a tip-off that Vaibhav alias Wandarya Sanjay Wanare was loitering in a suspicious condition in the Sanjaynagar, Pandhrabodi area. Acting on the information, police detained him and questioned him.
Police said that during questioning Vaibhav admitted to committing the theft with his associate Praveen alias Nine T. Police then detained the second accused, Praveen, from the Hilltop area. Thus, following Vaibhav's questioning, both accused were taken into police custody.
The investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly sold the stolen AC copper pipeline to a scrap dealer. They were also preparing to sell the copper wire extracted from the electric wire.
Police have seized burnt copper wire and the motorcycle used in the theft. The stolen goods and the motorcycle are now in police possession. These findings have emerged in the police investigation, and both accused face a charge of theft. Further investigation into the case is under way.
