Nagpur: Police have cracked down on an alleged prostitution racket run under the cover of a spa centre. A team from the Social Security Department and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) raided Grapes Spa and Salon in the Sadar cantonment area and rescued three women.

The women were allegedly sent to customers after being lured with the promise of earning more money. A decoy customer was used for the operation, and the police team stormed the centre as soon as the pre-arranged signal was received. One employee has been named as an accused, while the search continues for the spa operator and the manager.

Police had received information that women were allegedly being made to engage in prostitution at the spa. To verify it, they took the help of two panch witnesses and a decoy customer. The decoy was sent into the centre, and as soon as the signal came, the Social Security Department and AHTU teams raided the spot. Three women were rescued during the action. They were sent to customers after being lured with the promise of earning more money in a short time, and financial gain was being made from the activity.

After the raid, police named Hardik Nitin Nagpure, 22, as an accused. He lives on Gangabagh Road in Pardi and is said to be an employee of the spa centre. Police are looking for the spa operator, Gunjan Rajesh Asre, a resident of Trimurti Nagar, and the manager, Annu Jameer.

Police have begun the process of registering a case at Sadar police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The investigation is now trying to establish how long the alleged activities had been going on and whether others were involved.
