A two-day Ras-Garba festival was held in Savner town of Nagpur district on the occasion of Sharadiya Navratri. The event was organised by Kavya Zumba Studio at Balaji Celebration Lawn, and combined devotion, enthusiasm and traditional culture.

The festival was held on the initiative of Kavya Lohana, who runs the studio. Young children, young women and women dressed in traditional attire performed garba and set the mood. Dancing to the music, in colourful costumes, they kept the whole venue lively. The crowd that came to watch added to the grandeur of the event.

Garba and dandiya hold special significance in Navratri, along with the worship of Goddess Durga. The festival carried that tradition forward, with participants of every age, from children to women, showing their skills. Attractive costumes, traditional dance styles and rhythmic performances won over the audience. The event was not limited to entertainment. Indian culture, traditional folk art and religious faith were seen on one stage.

Several establishments and social organisations took part. Guests said that Kavya Lohana's effort to promote cultural events in Savner and connect the new generation with traditions is commendable.

A special attraction of the festival was the presence of Akash Chaudhari, a semi-finalist on Zee TV's show India's Talent Fight and a choreographer in the Marathi entertainment industry. He served as a judge, watched the participants' performances closely and chose the deserving winners.

The most moving moment of the two-day festival was the collective maha aarti of Goddess Durga, which drew the devotees present into devotion and spirituality. A prize distribution ceremony followed, in which the winners were encouraged.

Many establishments, organisations and supporters of the city played an important role in making the event a success. They included Shriram Bakery, Bangre Jewellers, Avni Dental Clinic, Sapna Makeover, Apna Warehouse, Rishiprasad Tuition, Ambika Restaurant, V.K. Events, Shubham DJ, Shreeji General Stores, Apna Nagpurian, A.P.A. Media House and Janvi Art, among other supporters.

Those present at the closing ceremony included Vatsal Bangre, owner of Bangre Jewellers; Sumeet Lohana, owner of Shriram Bakery; Dr Shweta Chavan of Avni Dental Clinic; Shubham Bonde and Sanjay Chandwani of Apna Nagpurian; social worker Kishor Dhundhele; and Hitesh Bansod of Hitjyoti Aadhar Foundation, among others.

The programme was anchored by Kamesh Alghare (Sony). Kavya Lohana outlined the format and purpose of the event in her introductory address. She thanked all the sponsors, supporters, participants and citizens of the city who helped make the programme a success. Prizes were distributed amid the colourful performances, and the Navratri Ras-Garba festival became an example of religious faith, cultural tradition and social participation in Savner.
