Nagpur Railway Police have arrested travelling ticket examiner (TTE) Ravindra Nimje from Bhusawal railway station. He is accused of trying to kill a woman by pushing her off a moving train. The accused was produced in court, which sent him to judicial custody.

The case began about five days ago, when Ajni Railway Police received information that a woman was lying badly injured on the railway track near km 825/30, between Ajni and Khapri. She was admitted to AIIMS Nagpur. Her injuries were serious, so she could not give a statement at the time.

After about three days of treatment, the victim, Sanjana (name changed), gave her statement to the Government Railway Police (GRP). She said TTE Ravindra had tried to kill her by pushing her off a moving train. On the basis of this statement, police registered a case of attempt to murder.

The accused, Ravindra, is posted as a TTE in the Bhusawal division of Central Railway. Sanjana is originally from Akola and is married. Ravindra is also married. Despite this, the two had been in a relationship for about 10 years. Sanjana travelled to Nagpur frequently, the two got to know each other and became friends on the train, and they often met in Nagpur city.

According to Sanjana's statement, the dispute between the two had grown over the past two to three years, and they often quarrelled. Sanjana had also filed a case against Ravindra at Yashodharanagar police station in Nagpur and Bajarpeth police station in Akola.

On the day of the incident, Sanjana had come from Akola to Nagpur to collect goods from the military canteen at Kamptee. After buying goods on a friend's military card, she reached Nagpur station to return to Akola. She bought a general ticket and went to platform 3 to catch the Howrah-Mumbai Mail.

Sanjana knew Ravindra was on duty on this train, so she sat in the AC B coach to meet him. Ravindra met her there, and after a short while an argument began between them over something. According to Sanjana's statement, Ravindra called her to the coach door to talk, and she could not sense his intentions.

The statement says that as soon as she reached the door, Ravindra pushed her off the moving train so that she would die and it would look like an accident. At that time the train was passing between Ajni and Khapri. Sanjana survived and was admitted to AIIMS in serious condition.

After registering the case, police arrested the accused, Ravindra, from Bhusawal railway station within 24 hours. The investigation is continuing. The action was carried out under the guidance of Nagpur GRP Superintendent of Police Shinde and led by PI Gawande. API Mankar, Yelekar, Ghongdi, Mazhar Ali, Mogre and others were involved.
