Toyota Motor is ready to bring its popular premium hatchback Glanza to the Indian market in a new avatar. The car will be officially launched tomorrow, October 14, 2026. The company has released a teaser of the car ahead of the launch.
The Glanza was launched in India in 2019. This is the second major update it is getting in the past seven years. The new facelift model is likely to get several cosmetic changes and modern features.
On design, Toyota is preparing to give the hatchback's front look an entirely new touch. According to the teaser that has surfaced recently, the front section will show several changes. An updated honeycomb grille with a chrome finish may be offered, while the Toyota logo may be moved slightly higher. The front bumper will also have a new design.
The sides and rear of the car are likely to remain the same as in the current design, as the company's focus is more on subtle changes than a complete makeover.
The interior cabin of the car has not yet been fully revealed. The dashboard layout is likely to remain largely the same as in the older model. However, the company may add some new features with an emphasis on comfort, convenience and safety. The top variant could get ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger with a cooling function. The touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and connected-car features will continue as before.
On safety, the new Glanza may bring Level 2 ADAS technology. It could include features such as lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. A tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may also be included.
On the engine front, Toyota may discontinue the old 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder K-Series petrol engine and offer the company's new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-Series engine. In the new Baleno, this engine delivers 83hp of power and 112Nm of peak torque. The old Glanza's engine produced 90hp and 113Nm of torque, so the power may feel slightly lower. However, the new powertrain will improve the car's mileage and fuel efficiency.
The gearbox options will be a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). A factory-fitted CNG variant is also expected to remain available.
On pricing, the facelift model may cost slightly more than the older version because of the design and feature upgrades. The current Glanza's ex-showroom price ranges from Rs 6.73 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh. The exact price of the new model will become clear only after its official launch.
