The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated its Vijayadashami festival in traditional style and with great enthusiasm at Reshimbagh in Nagpur on Tuesday. Reshimbagh is the RSS headquarters. As in every year, several prominent BJP leaders attended.
State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present at the event in full swayamsevak uniform.
Tight police arrangements had been made in the Reshimbagh area for the event. Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil was out in the field himself, reviewing the arrangements. During this, he met Bawankule. The two spoke when they came face to face. Bawankule also exchanged brief pleasantries with other police officers, and then moved on to the Vijayadashami programme.
The RSS has invited a number of guests to this year's Vijayadashami event. One of them is former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar. The backdrop of the stage built for the event drew everyone's attention.
The main stage carries the words "Jai jai goonje Bharat maa ki, usi ke hit mein hum jiye marey". The message conveyed on the stage is that the nation's interest comes first. The national song "Vande Mataram" is also mentioned on the main stage.
The programme began with the flag hoisting and weapons worship (shastra puja) after RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat and chief guest Sanjay Gupta arrived at the venue. A notable feature this time was that, alongside traditional weapons, a state-of-the-art carbine made entirely in India was also placed at the weapons worship site at Reshimbagh.
Maharashtra State Minorities Commission chairman Pyare Khan is also present at the RSS Vijayadashami event. According to information, he has come at the invitation of the RSS.
The whole country is watching the ceremony at the Reshimbagh ground in Nagpur. The event is being seen both as the conclusion of the RSS centenary year and as an indication of the direction ahead.
