Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today visited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur's Mahal area and met Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. The Sarsanghchalak and the Sangh's senior office-bearers stay in Nagpur during Vijayadashami, and the meeting took place during exactly that period.

The precise reason for the meeting is not yet known. It is said to be a courtesy call. Even so, the meeting has gained significance given the national-level issues concerning youth, drought and the Election Commission, along with the wider political backdrop. Fadnavis is likely to discuss these and other issues with Bhagwat.

Meanwhile, this year's Vijayadashami event of the Sangh is being held at an important stage in its history. With the Sangh's centenary year drawing to a close and the direction of its future course in focus, the country's attention is on the event at Reshimbagh ground in Nagpur.

The festival has been organised at Reshimbagh, Nagpur, at 7.40 am on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat will deliver his annual address at the event. The Sangh shared the information on its Twitter (X) handle.

Sanjay Gupta, editor-in-chief of Dainik Jagran, will attend as chief guest. Former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Israel's Consul General in Mumbai, Yaniv Revach, have also been invited.

The RSS celebrates six festivals: Varsha Pratipada (Gudi Padwa), Shivrajyabhishek Din, Raksha Bandhan, Gurupurnima, Vijayadashami and Makar Sankranti. The Sangh has its own philosophy behind organising these festivals. The Vijayadashami festival in Nagpur and the conclusion of the Tritiya Varsh Sangh Shiksha Varg are of special importance.
