As part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) Vijayadashami celebrations, a children's Vijayadashami utsav was held at 11 places in Nagpur simultaneously for the first time this year. Programmes began at 5 pm on Saturday in different parts of the city. Young swayamsevaks celebrated Vijayadashami with great enthusiasm.

RSS sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat was present at the main programme at Swarajnagar ground in Omkarnagar. He performed Shastra Puja according to ritual. Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay, former Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra Police, was on the stage as the chief guest.

The programme was held as the Sangh's centenary year draws to a close. Through it, a message of instilling values, discipline and patriotism in young swayamsevaks was given. Dr Bhagwat's presence raised the swayamsevaks' spirits at Swarajnagar ground. After the Shastra Puja, the guests present spoke on the significance of Vijayadashami and the work of the Sangh.

Great enthusiasm is visible in different wards and localities of Nagpur over this centenary-year event. For the first time, children and young swayamsevaks in such large numbers took to the streets and displayed discipline, creating an atmosphere of patriotism across the city.

Local residents and parents have made preparations to welcome the swayamsevaks with showers of flower petals at various places. The event is no longer merely an ideological programme but has taken the form of a large public celebration.

On Sunday, October 18, to mark the conclusion of the Sangh's centenary year and Vijayadashami, a route march (path sanchalan) of young swayamsevaks will set out simultaneously from nine places in the Nagpur metropolitan area. The swayamsevaks, in full uniform, will begin the march at 7 pm.

The march covers the Mohite, Itwari, Lalganj-Binaki-Sadar, Gittikhadan-Dharampeth, Trimurti, Somalwada, Ajni, Ayodhya and Nandanvan divisions. Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat will watch the route march at 7.30 pm at Baba Budhaji Nagar in Teka Naka. This was stated by Mahanagar Sanghchalak Rajesh Loya.
