Three men suspected of being behind the shooting at actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai have been picked up at Kota railway station in Rajasthan. Police announced the detentions on Monday, October 19, a day after the attack in Juhu. Two of the men are from Haryana and one is from Bihar.

The firing took place at about 7 pm on Sunday, October 18, 2026, near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu. Shroff had gone there to play football and was driving back when three men on a motorcycle opened fire on his car, reported to be a BMW. A crowd of fans was nearby, and the gunfire caused panic. A video of the incident has been widely shared online. Shroff was not hit by a bullet. One report says he suffered minor cuts from gunpowder and broken glass, and another says he and his driver were both hurt, but most accounts say he escaped unharmed. Police have said he is safe. After the driver was wounded, Shroff is reported to have taken the wheel himself and driven to hospital.

The filings differ on some details of the injured. Most name the driver as Firdaus and say he was hit in the left hand. One report names the injured driver as Umesh Chauhan, while another identifies Umesh Chavan as a passer-by who was hurt. Other reports speak of an autorickshaw driver being hit. On the hospital, one account says the injured were taken to Nanavati Hospital. Another says the driver was first admitted to Cooper Hospital in Juhu and moved to KEM Hospital around midnight on October 19. It adds that doctors found no serious effect on his heart or lungs, that his condition is stable, and that he is in the emergency ICU under the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery team. The number of shots is also reported differently: police are quoted as saying five rounds, another account says seven, and others say only that several were fired.

According to Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam, Mumbai Police learnt that the suspects were on the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express and alerted Rajasthan Police. A deputy superintendent and the cyber cell team were brought in, and the Anti-Gangster Task Force also took part. When the train pulled into Kota, officers searched it coach by coach and detained all three within 15 minutes. The men were in the general coach. An earlier report had spoken of two suspects being detained on the Surat Express, but the later accounts put the number at three, all taken at Kota.

Rajasthan Police say questioning has shown the men planned to reach Delhi and then cross into Nepal, which is why they chose the train. Investigators will now try to find out who was to shelter them there. It is alleged that after the shooting the trio went to Andheri, left their motorcycle at the railway station and boarded a train towards Rajasthan.

Police have named the detained as Rehan, 18, of Idgah Colony in Sonipat, Haryana, and Ritik Kumar, alias Roshan, 22, originally from Piprai village in Begusarai, Bihar. One account spells the second name as Ritik Kurmi. He lives in Andheri West and works as a Rapido rider. The third is a 17-year-old minor from Sonipat, whose name has not been released. Rajasthan Police describe Rehan as the main suspect and believe he had a key part in planning the attack.

Police say a man named Anil Pandit contacted Rehan, and one report says the group stayed in touch with him through the Signal app to avoid scrutiny. The nature of that contact, and who the real mastermind is, remain under investigation. Sources say the attackers watched Shroff's house, his gym and places he visits for some 20 days, tracking his schedule through paparazzi and bloggers on social media. Another account says Shroff goes to the park every Sunday for about two hours, and that the accused may have followed him and waited outside the gate. Police are checking whether the route and the security around him were studied in advance. Kota Police say no weapons have been recovered from the three, so questioning will try to establish where the guns were kept, who supplied them, who paid for the operation and how many others are involved. A country-made pistol is suspected, and early forensic work is said to have produced clues, though the weapon will be confirmed only by the official report.

After the attack, a social media post, said to be attributed to Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, and an audio clip claimed the act in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. It also threatened those in the film industry who work with Salman Khan. Police are verifying it, and there is no official confirmation that the post is genuine or that the gang was involved. Security has been raised outside Shroff's home in the Carter Road area of Bandra and around Salman Khan's house. Police also say Shroff had made no earlier complaint about threatening calls.

Juhu police registered a case against three unidentified people under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which cover attempt to murder and a crime by several people with a common intention, along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. The case has gone to the Mumbai Crime Branch, and Mumbai Police set up 15 teams. They used CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts, forensic evidence, the traced motorcycle and the suspects' travel details. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured Shroff and his family of a full investigation and strict action. Rajasthan Police are handing the three over to Mumbai Police for detailed questioning on the motive, the weapons and the planned escape.
