Three killed, including two brothers from Ambajogai, as tipper hits pickup near Neknoor in Beed
Two brothers from Ambajogai and a third man died on the spot on Sunday afternoon when a speeding tipper rammed their pickup on the Ahilyanagar-Ahmedpur highway.

A horrific accident on Sunday afternoon in the Neknoor area of Beed district plunged the entire area into grief. A speeding tipper on the Ahilyanagar-Ahmedpur national highway rammed a pickup vehicle with great force. The collision was so severe that three people, including two brothers from Ambajogai, died on the spot. The animals being carried in the vehicle were also killed, and the tipper driver is seriously injured.
According to the information available, the two brothers, Hanif Shaukat Qureshi (22) and Aref Shaukat Qureshi (20), residents of Barabhai Galli in Ambajogai town, were carrying animals in their pickup. When their vehicle reached near Neknoor on Sunday afternoon, an out-of-control, speeding tipper came from the opposite direction and crashed straight into the pickup. Hearing the impact, villagers nearby and other drivers rushed to help.
The accident was so terrifying that the pickup was completely crushed. Both brothers, Hanif and Aref, died on the spot, and another companion with them also succumbed. Several animals being carried in the pickup also died there, drawing sympathy and sorrow from people. The driver of the tipper, which caused the accident, suffered serious injuries and was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
Neknoor police reached the spot on receiving the news. With the help of local people, the police cleared the road, restored traffic and sent the bodies for postmortem. The police are investigating the case further. Questions are again being raised over speeding and adherence to traffic rules. Ambajogai town and the family are in mourning over the sudden, simultaneous death of two young brothers.
The accident has again brought the issue of traffic safety and speeding vehicles on the highway to the fore. Accidents on the Ahilyanagar-Ahmedpur national highway have risen rapidly for some time, and rules are seen being flouted on this route not only at night but also in broad daylight. Innocent lives are being lost because of the uncontrolled speed of heavy vehicles and disregard for traffic rules. Angry villagers and local residents are demanding that the administration take strict steps on this route immediately and install speed breakers and CCTV cameras to rein in speeding.
