Ramnagar police in Chandrapur detained three college students and seized 63 stolen batteries worth Rs 1.41 lakh, solving two theft cases.
Ramnagar police have detained three college students in two cases of two-wheeler battery theft in Chandrapur city. Police seized 63 batteries from them, valued at Rs 1.41 lakh. The action has solved both battery theft cases registered at Ramnagar police station.
The first complaint was lodged at Ramnagar police station by Saurabh Ashok Pandey, manager of Pawansut Honda Service Centre. According to him, unidentified thieves took away a total of 47 two-wheeler batteries kept for sale in the service centre's godown between October 21 and 22, 2026. A case was registered on the complaint.
A case had also been registered of the theft of 79 batteries in a similar manner from Shivshankar Honda showroom. As the modus operandi in both cases was the same, police suspected that the same people could be behind both incidents.
Treating the matter as serious, Ramnagar police station Inspector Prabhavati Ekurke instructed the investigating team's officers and personnel to trace the accused and solve the case at the earliest. The Ramnagar investigating team had since been working on the probe.
During this time, the team received a confidential tip that three college students were looking for customers to sell two-wheeler batteries in the Bengali Camp area. Acting on this, police promptly laid a trap and detained three suspected youths.
The accused are Tejal Ratnakar Gedam (21, resident of Indiranagar, Valmik Chowk, Chandrapur), Aditya Maruti Ramteke (20, resident of Masala, Tukum, Chandrapur) and Sujal Avinash Ratnaparkhi (22, resident of Babupeth, Phule Ward, Chandrapur). According to police, during stringent questioning the three confessed that they committed the thefts out of greed to buy expensive luxuries.
Police seized a total of 63 stolen batteries from the three, worth Rs 1.41 lakh in all. The action has cracked both two-wheeler battery theft cases registered at Ramnagar police station. It is also being said that more stolen goods are very likely to be recovered from the accused.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Chandrapur Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopani, Additional Superintendent of Police Ishwar Katkade and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pramod Chaugule. It was executed by a team of Ramnagar police station Inspector Prabhavati Ekurke, Assistant Inspectors Shivaji Nagve and Hanuman Ugle, and Sub-Inspector Krishna Darade. Personnel Anand Kharat, Prakash Balki, Mangesh Shende, Ramprasad Naitam, Baba Naitam, Ravikumar Dhengale, Jitendra Akare, Manisha More, Pankaj Thombare, Prakash Madavi, Sandeep Gedam, Pankaj Ponde, Suraj Shedmake and Bluty Sakhare were also part of the team.
