MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has written to Chandrapur's district police superintendent seeking the immediate return of Home Guard personnel to traffic duty at major junctions.
MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has demanded that Home Guard personnel be posted again at the main junctions of Chandrapur city. He has written to the district Superintendent of Police, Chandrapur, saying the personnel should be deployed immediately, as they were earlier.
In the letter, Mungantiwar said Home Guard personnel had earlier been deployed at the main junctions of the Chandrapur metropolitan area for traffic control, so that traffic stayed smooth and vehicles did not jam up. Their planned presence had brought discipline to the city's traffic. For the past few days, however, the personnel posted at these junctions have not been seen on duty, which has raised the problem of traffic control.
As a result, traffic at the main junctions is falling into disorder. Pedestrians as well as motorists are suffering. He noted that the possibility of accidents due to congestion cannot be ruled out. He wants the personnel redeployed in view of congestion, vehicle discipline and pedestrian safety.
Mungantiwar reminded that Home Guard personnel regulate traffic at the main junctions, keep vehicles in order, prevent jams and help pedestrians cross the road safely. He said their presence brings discipline to traffic and gives citizens great relief. In the letter he wrote that their presence at the junctions is therefore indispensable to keep traffic in the Chandrapur metropolitan area safer, more orderly and smoother.
Mungantiwar also underlined that Home Guard personnel are not merely staff who manage traffic but an important pillar of the city's everyday public order. Whether in harsh sun or lashing rain, with heavy traffic on the roads or crowds during festivals, these personnel perform their duty every time. He said their vigilance gives traffic direction, saves citizens' time and improves road safety. It is therefore necessary to ensure their regular presence, he said.
Mungantiwar expressed the expectation that these personnel will carry out traffic duty regularly and that traffic in the city will remain orderly. He said the contribution of Home Guard personnel is essential to the city's safety, and that making proper use of their services is also the administration's responsibility. He appealed to the department concerned to take serious note of the demand and act without delay. Chandrapur residents are now watching to see what the administration decides.
