Lakadganj police have registered a case against three people accused of taking Rs 75.76 lakh for a cold storage installation but never supplying the machine.

Nagpur: A businessman has complained of being defrauded of Rs 75.76 lakh by being promised that he could earn lakhs of rupees by expanding his business. The case, which began with an offer to install a cold storage machine, has now reached the police.

Lakadganj police have registered a case against Narendra Maruti Kashiwar (49), Ujjwala Narendra Kashiwar (41) and Rahul Purushottam Thakre (41). Ujjwala Kashiwar's address is recorded as Besa, Pipla, while Rahul Thakre's address is recorded as Karman Residency in Mahal.

The complainant, Amitkant Motwani, is a dal mill owner. According to the complaint, Narendra Kashiwar contacted Motwani and told him he had a company called NX Refrigeration. He also said the company was in the cold storage business.

In a subsequent meeting, Kashiwar asked Motwani to set up a cold storage unit at his dal mill. Motwani asked for a quotation for building the cold storage. After the quotation was given, Motwani agreed to the work and both men signed it.

According to the complaint, Narendra Kashiwar's wife Ujjwala and Rahul Thakre then took a total of Rs 75.76 lakh from him over time. The complaint says that even after taking this much money, the machine needed for the cold storage was not supplied to him.

Motwani eventually went to Lakadganj police station and filed a complaint. Police registered a case of cheating on the basis of it. Although a case has been registered against the three, the allegations against them are based on the complaint.
