Ramswaroop Mund, a Surat textile trader, gave each of his 20 employees more than Rs 1 lakh in cash and a gift, and a video of the bonus has gone viral.
A Surat textile trader has given his employees a cash Diwali bonus of more than Rs 1 lakh each. A video of the bonus is going viral on social media, and people are talking about it.
The trader is Ramswaroop Mund, originally from Rajasthan, who runs a textile business in Surat. This Diwali he gave each of his 20 employees more than Rs 1 lakh in cash. Along with the cash, everyone also received a special gift, so each employee took home a gift as well as the money.
The manner of giving the bonus was also unusual. Instead of handing over money in envelopes, bundles of new notes ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 500 were arranged in puja thalis that looked like silver. The thalis were handed to the employees. The bonus was distributed to the employees by their wives. Several employees were moved to see the bundles of notes laid out on the thalis.
Mund's thinking is simple. He says that Diwali's joy should not stay within his own home. The families of those who work hard alongside him have an equal right to celebrate the festival with the same happiness. He does not look upon his employees merely as labourers, but regards them as part of his own family.
"Money can make you rich, but a big heart like this makes you truly 'prosperous'," he said.
The video posted on social media shows bundles of notes from Rs 10 to Rs 500 neatly placed in silver-coloured puja thalis and handed to the employees. The video has spread rapidly, and that is why the Diwali bonus is being discussed. The initiative of the Surat textile trader is now being noticed everywhere.
