Narendra Modi took charge as Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2001. Twenty-five years have now been completed. On the occasion, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde congratulated him.

Shinde said October 7, 2001 proved to be an important milestone in the history of Indian politics. According to him, the journey is not merely the story of one leader's political career. Deputy Chief Minister Shinde said it is an important chapter in the country's changing political, social and development journey.

On behalf of the 13 crore people of Maharashtra and the Shiv Sena, Shinde heartily congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his 25 years in public life. He also extended good wishes for the journey ahead.

Shinde said, "Narendra Modi's 25-year journey is a journey of service, resolve and dedication. Keeping the firm resolve of 'Nation First' at the centre, he placed the country's interest above personal interest. His leadership has given the confidence of 140 crore Indians a new height."

Deputy Chief Minister Shinde also noted that Modi's journey, which began with the post of Gujarat chief minister, has now reached the office of the country's Prime Minister. According to Shinde, over this long journey Modi has played an important role in giving a new direction to the country's development and in increasing India's influence in the world.

Shinde also posted a message of good wishes on his social media account. In it he wrote, "May Narendra Modi's coming journey, which is taking India towards becoming a superpower, be even more glorious. I pray at the feet of God that he be blessed with good health, long life and immense strength to keep serving the country."

Meanwhile, on completing 25 years of service, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Sabha at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. There he said he is a person who lives his life for a purpose, and that working continuously is his dharma.

Prime Minister Modi said, "The country has given me a great deal. That is why my responsibility towards the country is also the greatest, and I firmly believe that every citizen of the country has the greatest claim on me. This 25 years of public trust, this 25 years of experience is a great asset, and this asset belongs not just to Modi, but to the country."
