Sharad Pawar admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai hours after Pune discharge
The NCP (SP) national president was taken to hospital again for further tests, hours after being discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, daughter Supriya Sule said.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) national president and senior leader Sharad Pawar has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was taken to hospital again only a few hours after being discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune. The news has deepened concern about his health in political circles and among party workers.
A few days ago, Pawar, 85, suddenly developed a cough problem and was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune for treatment. He was treated there by cardiologist Dr Parvez Grant and his medical team. After a marked improvement in his condition, he was discharged on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
After the discharge, his daughter and MP Supriya Sule said on social media that Pawar was now doing well and that the family had set out for Mumbai.
On the way home from the hospital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned Pawar himself and enquired about his health. Modi advised him to rest fully. He told Pawar, "Supriya Sule and other leaders are handling the responsibility of the country and the party well, so you should now rest without any worry." In reply, Pawar thanked the Prime Minister for his kind words and said he was resting fully.
After travelling from Pune to Mumbai, Sule and the family decided not to take any risk with his health, and Pawar was taken to Breach Candy Hospital. Sule announced this herself on X. She wrote in English that Baba was being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for further tests, and thanked everyone for their concern and good wishes.
Sule also said, "We have admitted Baba to Breach Candy Hospital so that all his further medical tests can be completed comfortably." She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the public and party workers for their love, good wishes and prayers.
His routine tests are currently under way under the supervision of doctors, and his condition is stable, it has been said.
