The road from Masur to Banawadi Phata is so riddled with potholes that it has been literally reduced to a sieve. Motorists can no longer tell whether the road is in the potholes or the potholes are in the road. Riders of two-wheelers, drivers of cars and heavy vehicles are all struggling to get through.

Two-wheeler riders face the most trouble, having to ride with their lives in their hands. In their effort to avoid the potholes, at least one accident happens every day, the party said.

The road is an important and heavily used stretch of the Khandala-Shirol state highway. Vehicles from Koregaon and Khatav talukas use it. Vehicles avoiding the toll and sugarcane transport for factories also travel on this road. Passengers travelling in vehicles too have to bear the discomfort of the potholes. Vehicles are being badly damaged, and a major accident is likely.

Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) have been informed about filling the potholes, but the department has ignored the matter. The Karad North unit of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has said that if anyone loses their life in an accident, cases of culpable homicide will be filed against the department's officials and the contractor. It has also asked that the potholes on the road be filled within eight days.

Information on how to lodge a complaint has also been given. A complaint should be registered online on the Maharashtra government's official portal, Aaple Sarkar. This provides a tracking ID for the complaint and officials have to reply within a set time.

Photographs and videos of the potholes, along with clippings of this news report, should be collected and kept. They will be very important if a strong agitation or legal proceedings become necessary later.

Verbal complaints will not suffice. A written complaint should be made to the local Sub-Divisional Officer or the Executive Engineer of the PWD, with photographs of the road and potholes attached, it has also been said.

Despite the PWD being informed, no notice has been taken, and motorists are running risks in their daily travel. The complaint routes have been outlined as a guide to what can be done if the potholes are not filled in eight days.
