Promoting Ramayanam, due on November 5, Ranbir Kapoor likened Elon Musk's newly launched flying car to the Pushpak Vimana of the Ramayana.

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming film Ramayanam is in the news. Ranbir plays Lord Rama in the film, which is due for release on November 5.

With the release date close, the cast has begun preparing for promotions. A remark Ranbir made in one such promotional interview is now widely discussed. He compared Elon Musk's flying car directly to the Pushpak Vimana of the Ramayana.

Ranbir Kapoor, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Yash and director Nitesh Tiwari gave the interview to Star Talks as part of the film's promotion. During the conversation, the host praised the weapons of ancient times and said they could rival even today's most advanced weapons. The host also praised the film's VFX.

In the course of the talk, the discussion turned to Elon Musk having recently launched a flying car. Ranbir Kapoor said, "Elon Musk recently launched a flying car. But I think India did this 5,000 years ago."

Ranbir's words drew the attention of those present. He had likened Musk's flying car to the Pushpak Vimana of the Ramayana. His statement has since been discussed on social media as well.

It is also worth looking at what Hindu mythology says about the Pushpak Vimana. According to these accounts, Vishwakarma built the Pushpak Vimana for Brahma. Brahma gave it to Kubera. Ravana later defeated Kubera and took the Pushpak Vimana from him, the story goes.

As described in the Ramayana, the Pushpak Vimana was like a flying palace. It could travel at the speed of thought. Mythological accounts note that its size could expand to suit the number of passengers. Citing this same Pushpak Vimana, Ranbir compared it to Elon Musk's flying car.

Ranbir's remark has become the most talked-about moment of the promotions ahead of Ramayanam's November 5 release. Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Yash and director Nitesh Tiwari were with him in the interview.
