Rain has largely stopped in Maharashtra as November begins, with Mumbai recording a maximum of 36.9 degrees Celsius and dry weather forecast for most districts till November 8.
The weather in Maharashtra has changed as November began. Although the cyclone Murasu, formed in the Bay of Bengal, has weakened, temperatures in the state remain high. Rain has stopped in most places and the heat is being felt.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a district-wise forecast for November 4 to 8, 2026. It says there is no chance of rain in most parts of the state. Only light showers are forecast on the ghat sections of Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.
On Wednesday, Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above normal. The city's minimum was 26.6 degrees Celsius, also 2.3 degrees above normal. Mumbaikars are therefore enduring sultry weather even in November. Colaba recorded 36.5 degrees. The mercury was above 35 degrees at Dahanu, Santacruz and Ratnagiri, and above 34 degrees at Jalgaon, Solapur, Akola, Amravati and Chandrapur. In central Maharashtra, Solapur recorded a maximum of 36.3 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature, 17.4 degrees Celsius, was recorded at Mahabaleshwar and Yavatmal.
According to the department's forecast, the weather is likely to stay dry in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts from November 4 to 8. No special rain warning has been issued for these districts. People in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and northern Konkan will therefore not be troubled by rain for the next few days. The weather could favour daily commutes, outdoor work and farm work.
Light rain and showers with thunder had been forecast at some places on the ghat sections of Sindhudurg and Kolhapur on November 4. From November 5 to 8, however, the weather in Sindhudurg will stay dry. The chance of rain in the Kolhapur ghat area is also low for four days from November 5.
The weather in Pune city and the ghat areas is forecast to stay dry for the next five days. On Thursday the sky in Pune will be clear most of the time, with partial cloud possible in the afternoon and evening. The maximum temperature is likely to be about 33 degrees and the minimum about 19 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, the Shivajinagar weather station recorded a maximum of 32.7 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal. The minimum was 19.7 degrees, 3.7 degrees above normal. No rain was recorded at either 8.30 am or 5.30 pm. Relative humidity was 77 per cent in the morning and 59 per cent in the evening.
Pune has so far received 42.8 mm of rain this season. As the average for this period is 80.4 mm, the city has a rainfall deficit of 37.6 mm. No rain is forecast for Nashik and the Nashik ghat area either. Dry weather is likely in Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon from November 4 to 8.
Because minimum temperatures are fluctuating in the state, the expected cold has not yet set in. The agricultural college at Dhule recorded 15 degrees Celsius. Partly cloudy conditions and temperature fluctuations are forecast to continue today as well.
The severe cyclone Murasu has weakened after making landfall. As its remnant, a well-marked low-pressure area was active over Telangana on November 4. The system is moving north and is likely to weaken further. A cyclonic circulation persists over the Konkan and Goa region at a height of about 1.5 km.
