Rain likely to return to parts of Maharashtra from October 27, farmers advised to protect harvest

Maharashtra's weather appears set for another change. With the last week of October close, the weather department's forecast says rain is possible in different parts of the state. From October 27 in particular, skies will be cloudy over some districts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and Central Maharashtra, and light to heavy rain has been forecast. In some places, lightning and strong winds may accompany the rain.

On October 26, skies are very likely to stay largely clear over the districts of Konkan-Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. The weather is expected to be dry that day in all four regions: Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.

On October 27, light rain or thundershowers are very likely at some places in the districts of Marathwada. The weather will be mostly clear in Konkan-Goa and Central Maharashtra. Region-wise, Konkan is likely to stay dry. Central Maharashtra will also be dry, though some places may get rain. Rain is forecast at some places in Marathwada, while some places in Vidarbha may see thunder, lightning and strong winds.

On October 28, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at some places in the districts of South Konkan-Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. Skies will be partly cloudy over the districts of North Konkan. Region-wise, some places in Konkan may get rain. Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are also forecast to see rain with thunder and lightning at some places. Vidarbha will get rain in many places, heavy rain is possible in some, and some places will also see thunder, lightning and strong winds.

On October 29, rain is likely at some places in Konkan, with thunder and lightning at others. Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are forecast to see rain and thunder with lightning at some places. Vidarbha will again get rain in many places, heavy rain is possible in some, and thunder, lightning and strong winds are likely in some.

An advisory has also been issued for farmers. This post-monsoon, moisture-laden change in the weather at the end of October could damage crops that are ready for harvest, and the possibility cannot be ruled out. Farmers in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Central Maharashtra are therefore being urged to keep their crops and farm produce in a safe place and keep watching the weather.
