ONGC invites applications for 3,047 apprentice posts; last date is November 20

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has announced a large recruitment drive for apprentices, with 3,047 posts to be filled.

Eligible candidates can apply online on ONGC's official website, ongcindia.com. The last date for applications is November 20, 2026. The date for declaring results has been given as December 15, 2026. Candidates are advised not to wait until the deadline.

Candidates should check the educational eligibility before filling in the form, as only those who meet the minimum qualification fixed for each post can apply.

Among diploma and degree holders, those who have passed B.A, B.Com, B.B.A, B.E. or B.Tech will be eligible only if their degree is recognised by the relevant statutory bodies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

For ITI and vocational certificates, a trade apprentice must hold a vocational trade certificate from an institution recognised by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE). Qualifications obtained from a distance education council will also be accepted.

There is a special rule for the electrician trade. For posts that require the electrician trade, a certificate in the wireman trade will not be accepted.

Selection for apprentice posts at ONGC will be based entirely on merit. A provisional merit list will be prepared trade-wise, subject-wise and work-centre-wise, on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examinations.

If an examination follows a different grading system, marks will be verified according to the rules. Candidates selected on the basis of the merit list and the available seats will then be called for document verification in a fixed ratio.
