India Post seeks 24 staff car drivers for Chennai Mail Motor Service, Class 10 pass eligible

The Tamil Nadu Circle of India Post has announced recruitment for staff car drivers at the Mail Motor Service in Chennai. A total of 24 posts are to be filled, and candidates who have passed Class 10 can apply.

The last date for applications is November 30, 2026, and they must reach by 5 pm. Applications must be sent by Speed Post only. Those sent by hand or courier will not be accepted.

Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board and hold a valid LMV or HMV licence, that is, a licence to drive light or heavy vehicles. At least three years of driving experience is required. Applicants should also be able to identify and fix minor faults in a vehicle. Those who have worked for three years as home guards or civil volunteers can also apply.

The posts are distributed as follows: 13 for UR (open category), 7 for OBC, 3 for SC and 1 for EWS. No post is available for ST. Two of the 24 posts are reserved for ex-servicemen. This is horizontal reservation, meaning these two posts fall within the 24 and are not additional.

On age, UR and EWS candidates must be between 18 and 27 years on November 30, 2026. SC and ST candidates get a relaxation of 5 years, taking the upper limit to 32. OBC candidates get 3 years, taking it to 30. Ex-servicemen and government employees will also get relaxation as per rules.

The fee is Rs 100. Women and SC and ST candidates are exempt. Those who must pay should do so by e-payment at a post office: fill in the challan form and deposit the money at a computerised post office. The E-Biller name to be entered is Senior Manager, MMS Chennai, CPMG Tamil Nadu Circle, and the E-Biller ID is 1000099022. The original receipt must be attached to the application. Payment by any other method will not be accepted.

The pay is Level 2 under the 7th Pay Commission, Rs 19,900 to Rs 63,200 a month, with allowances in addition.

To apply, visit indiapost.gov.in, find the advertisement for the staff car driver recruitment of the Mail Motor Service, Chennai, and print the application form given in it. Fill in full personal and educational details in Hindi, English or Tamil. Enter the licence details, paste a recent passport-size photograph and sign over it. Candidates who must pay the fee should do so at a post office and attach the receipt. Check the whole form once and sign it.
