The ninth day of Shardiya Navratri falls on Monday, October 19. The day is dedicated to Goddess Siddhidatri, considered the last of the nine forms of Navdurga. In some places, kanya pujan is also performed on this day, and the goddess is offered different items as naivedya.

Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth day of Navratri and is regarded as the ninth and final form of Durga. The goddess is said to bestow siddhi, knowledge, intellect and spiritual power. On the last day, the nine days of worship can be concluded by praying to the goddess with devotion.

This year, the colour for Navami is peacock green. The colour is regarded as a symbol of peace, beauty, positivity and spiritual energy. Peacock green is a pleasing blend of green and blue, and is therefore also associated with nature, balance, stability and happiness. Going by the sequence of Navratri colours, the tradition of wearing peacock green clothes while worshipping the goddess can be followed on this day.

As for naivedya, there is a tradition of offering sesame to Goddess Siddhidatri. Sesame laddoos or a sattvik dish made with sesame can be offered. Kheer, halwa, puri, coconut dishes and fruits can also be placed as offerings on this day.

Kanya pujan is performed in many places on Navami too. In many places, girls are regarded as forms of the goddess and offered food, fruit, sweets and gifts. With devotion, the mantra "Om Devi Siddhidatryai Namah" should be chanted and the goddess prayed to for happiness, peace, good health, prosperity and the well-being of the family.

Siddhidatri is the last form of Navdurga. She grants devotees siddhi, knowledge, intellect and spiritual power. "Siddhi" means a special spiritual ability and "datri" means giver, so the name Siddhidatri means the goddess who bestows siddhi. The goddess is seated on a lotus and has four hands, holding a conch, a discus and a mace. The lotus is regarded as a symbol of purity and spiritual progress.
