A row over kande pohe has been drawing wide attention between Marathi cinema personalities Kushal Badrike and Atharva Sudame. Badrike shared a video a few days ago in which he made a serious allegation against Sudame. He said that inviting guests home and not serving them kande pohe was an insult to hospitality. The video went viral on social media. Sudame has now come forward to respond.

Sudame has posted a new video on Instagram in which he appears to apologise with great humility. "Hello friends, I have made this video specially to apologise," he said. "I had indeed invited all the artistes home, but I could not even give them plain kande pohe. So the artistes got upset with me, and you too told me that, Sudame, this is not right. Inviting people home and not giving them kande pohe is wrong."

Sudame has also come up with a new idea to settle the matter. "So I have now organised a big programme named 'Sudame che Kande Pohe'," he said. "This programme is not only for artistes but for all my well-wishers. It will be held at Balgandharva Rangmandir in Pune on 9 November. If you want to attend, you will have to buy a ticket."

After the post, Sudame's fans have showered him with praise. In the comments, people are writing that they will now certainly go and eat kande pohe.

The video Badrike had made was recorded in anger. "Hello, I had never made a video like this till today, because I had never had such a bad experience," he had said. According to Badrike, Sudame had told all the artistes that there was a kande pohe event at his place and invited them home. Everyone went happily, expecting to eat Sudame's famous kande pohe. But on reaching there, they found that nobody got any kande pohe at all.

Badrike had gone on to say that it is fine once in a while when Sudame makes fun of people and roasts them in his videos. But he did not find it right to insult people in this way after inviting them home. He said he had an objection to Sudame. With that, Badrike ended the video. Later, seeing the row grow, he deleted the video.

People are now wondering whether it was all planned. Putting on a show named after the very kande pohe that was the cause of the quarrel could also be a promotional stunt. Whatever the case, the 9 November show is widely expected to be a hit.
