Water supply will stop from 10 am to 8 pm on November 3 while valves and flowmeters are fitted on the Morbe main pipeline; low pressure is likely on Wednesday morning.

Several parts of Navi Mumbai will get no water on Tuesday. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation will carry out maintenance and technical repair work on the main pipeline that brings water to the city from the Morbe dam. A shutdown of 10 hours, from 10 am to 8 pm, will be taken on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

During this period, butterfly valves, sluice valves and flowmeters will be installed at various points on the Morbe main pipeline. Water supply in many nodes of Navi Mumbai will therefore stay completely shut. The corporation's city engineer's department has issued an official public notice. The aim of the work is to strengthen the city's water supply system, improve control over the pipeline and distribute water better.

According to the corporation's plan, the work will be carried out at seven locations in Sanpada, Vashi, Belapur and Shirvane. At Sanpada, a butterfly valve will be fitted on a 400 mm diameter distribution pipeline connected to the Morbe main pipeline near Moraj Circle. A sluice valve will be installed on a 250 mm diameter distribution pipeline near Samana Press in Sanpada Sector 30.

In Vashi Sector 19, sluice valve work will be done on a 250 mm diameter distribution pipeline connected to the Morbe main pipeline, near Satara Plaza in the APMC market area. In Vashi Sector 22, a butterfly valve will be fitted on a 700 mm diameter distribution pipeline, which is also connected to the Morbe main pipeline.

In Belapur Sector 28, a butterfly valve will be fitted on a 700 mm diameter inlet pipeline connected to a pump at the pump house. A butterfly valve will also be fitted on a 900 mm diameter distribution pipeline connected to the Morbe main pipeline at Killa Junction in Belapur Sector 15. Four flowmeters will be installed on a distribution line connected to an 800 mm diameter main pipeline near Shirvane village, which will make it easier to measure water flow and control distribution.

Between 10 am and 8 pm on Tuesday, the evening water supply will remain shut in the Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe-Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli and Airoli divisions of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area. The Kharghar and Kamothe nodes in the CIDCO area will also get no water during this time. Residents of all these areas are likely to be inconvenienced.

Full pressure may not return immediately after the shutdown. The corporation has said supply may be at low pressure on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Residents have been asked to use water sparingly and store only as much as they need.

Given the city's growing water demand, the installation of the valves and flowmeters is considered important and will allow more effective control over distribution in future. However, the 10-hour shutdown will affect thousands of residents. City Engineer Shishir Arandwad of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has appealed to residents to use water carefully.
