Nagpur to face 36-hour water cut from Tuesday as Pench-4 and Pench-1 plants shut down for repairs
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation will take planned shutdowns on October 6 for repairs, pipeline shifting and maintenance, cutting water supply in many areas.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation will carry out planned shutdowns at different locations in the city on Tuesday, October 6. The shutdowns are for repairs to the water supply system, shifting of pipelines and essential maintenance. The corporation has asked residents to use water very carefully. Supply will be completely off in many parts of the city during this period.
The shutdown at the Pench-4 water treatment plant will last 36 hours, from 10 am on October 6 to 10 pm on October 7. During this time, two main pipelines of 1,400 mm by 1,400 mm diameter near the Mankapur nullah will be interconnected, and a pipeline will be shifted. The inlet flowmeter of the Onkarnagar New ESR will also be replaced.
The Pench-1 water treatment plant will have an 18-hour shutdown, from 10 am on October 6 to 4 am on October 7. In addition, five hours of essential repair work will be carried out on the 33 kV NMC line at Navegaon Khairi.
The Pench-4 shutdown will affect these areas: Nara, Nara NIT, Nari, Amrut Nari-1 and 2, Jaripatka, Dhantoli, Laxminagar New, Shrinagar, Nalandanagar, Onkarnagar, Amrut Onkarnagar, Amrut Double Decker, Hudkeshwar, Sakkardara-1, 2 and 3, Amrut Bidipeth, Amrut Balaji, the rural parts of Hudkeshwar and Narsala, and the Godhni gram panchayat area. Water supply will be completely shut in these areas during this time.
The Pench-1 shutdown will affect supply in these areas: GH-Buldi, Vanjarinagar Old and New, Reshimbagh, Hanumannagar, GH-Medical, Godrej Anandam, GH-Boriapura, GH-Vahan Thikan, GH-Central Railway, Bejonbagh, GH-Rajnagar and GH Sadar.
Because of the Navegaon Khairi work, supply is very likely to be shut in these areas: Laxminagar Old, Gayatrinagar, Pratapnagar, Khamla, Takli Sim, Trimurtinagar, Jaitala, Ramnagar, Civil Lines DT, Rifle Line, Futala Line, Dabha, Seminary Hills, Chichbhavan, Tekdi Wadi, Buldi Fort-1 and 2, Killa Mahal, Boriapura, Gittikhadan and Gorewada.
Residents have been asked to store the water they need in advance, keeping the planned shutdown in mind, and to use water sparingly.
