Half of October has passed in Nagpur and the weather is slowly changing. Nights have begun to feel mildly cold and fog has started appearing in some areas late at night.

Days remain warm, with the maximum temperature above 33 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature, hovering around 20 degrees, has made nights somewhat cooler. The weather department has now signalled a change.

According to the department, clouds are hovering in the sky around Dussehra. It has said the city is likely to remain cloudy on October 16 and 17. On October 18, thunderstorms with a few spells of rain are possible in most places.

The city will stay cloudy on October 19 and 20 as well. Light rain with drizzle and showers is possible in many places. The rain could also bring a fall in temperature.

On Wednesday the weather department recorded Nagpur's maximum temperature at 33.6 degrees, 0.2 degrees above normal. The maximum was down 0.4 degrees from Tuesday.

The minimum temperature was 20.8 degrees, 0.3 degrees above normal, and has risen 0.4 degrees in the past 24 hours. Gondia was the coldest on Wednesday with a minimum of 18.8 degrees, while Yavatmal was the hottest with a maximum of 38.4 degrees.

According to weather department experts, such changes and light rain in the second fortnight of October show that the region is in the phase between the complete withdrawal of the monsoon and the arrival of winter.

Once the rain stops in the coming days, the minimum temperature is likely to fall further under the influence of cold winds from the north. This will make the chill in Nagpur more pronounced.
