Nagpur's minimum fell to 14.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the lowest this season, while Gondia recorded 13 degrees among Vidarbha's major cities.

The cold is gradually setting in over Nagpur and other parts of Vidarbha. On Saturday, November 7, Nagpur recorded a minimum temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius, the lowest so far this season.

Nagpur's minimum has dropped by about 2 degrees Celsius. The effect is clearly felt in the late evening and at night. Diwali festivities are still under way in the area, and the change in weather has become more noticeable to people in the midst of them.

Over the past few days, both maximum and minimum temperatures have fallen by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in many parts of Vidarbha. The skies are clear and winds are blowing from the north. These two factors are being cited as the cause of the present cold conditions.

Among Vidarbha's major cities, the lowest minimum on Saturday was 13 degrees Celsius in Gondia, which was colder than Nagpur. Nagpur followed at 14.6 degrees. Bhandara recorded a minimum of 15 degrees Celsius and Wardha 15.4 degrees Celsius.

Akola's minimum was considerably higher, at 19.8 degrees Celsius. On the maximum side, the mercury in Akola rose to 34.9 degrees Celsius, making it the warmest among the cities for which figures are available. Nagpur's maximum on Wednesday was 33.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), skies in the region are expected to remain clear over the next week, with very little moisture in the air.

However, minimum temperatures are likely to stay above normal over the next few days. This means night temperatures may not fall sharply right away.

With the mercury dropping in Vidarbha, people are beginning to get the first hint of winter, especially in the early morning and late evening.
