Nagpur: BTech student, 19, killed as e-scooter collides with dumper in Mankapur
A 19-year-old BTech student died and her classmate was slightly injured when their e-scooter hit a dumper in Nagpur's Mankapur area on Tuesday evening.
A 19-year-old BTech student was killed in a road accident in Nagpur's Mankapur area on Tuesday evening when the e-scooter she was travelling on collided with a dumper. The other student riding with her suffered minor injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Muskan Devachand Khiyaldasani (19), a resident of Jaripatka. She was a second-year BTech student at Jhulelal Institute of Technology in Bokhara. Her classmate Rajlaxmi Lokhande, who was also on the e-scooter, suffered minor injuries.
According to preliminary information, the two students were riding the e-scooter on Godhni-Jhenda Chowk Road between about 5.45 pm and 6 pm when it hit a dumper.
Muskan was reportedly seated on the pillion. After the collision, she fell to the right side of the road and landed directly under the rear wheel of the dumper. She died on the spot.
The dumper driver reportedly fled the scene with the vehicle after the accident. With the help of local residents, however, the police stopped the dumper and took the driver into custody.
The driver has been identified as Damodar Sitaram Sahare (61), a resident of Nari-Kapil Nagar. The police have also seized the dumper involved in the accident.
