Maharashtra is seeing mixed weather in early October. The monsoon is withdrawing and some districts may get light showers, while many areas will continue to face hot sun and humidity. People in the state may have to put up with such weather for the next two days.

According to the weather department's forecast, rain is likely today, October 6, in parts of east Vidarbha and Konkan. Light showers may fall in some places, while the sky is expected to remain clear and the heat strong across most of the state.

Rain with wind and lightning is forecast today in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara ghat areas, Kolhapur ghat areas, Chandrapur, Gondia and Gadchiroli districts. People in these areas should keep track of changes in the weather.

Light showers with lightning may also occur in Raigad, Pune ghat areas, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Hingoli and Nanded districts. Apart from these districts, the rest of the state will have a clear sky and continued heat, the department said.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, rain with wind and lightning is forecast in Gadchiroli district. Light showers with lightning are expected in Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Kolhapur ghat areas. The sky in the rest of the state may stay clear tomorrow too, with the heat continuing. Districts outside the rain-hit areas may therefore face discomfort from heat and humidity.

The monsoon has withdrawn from half of Maharashtra. It is likely to withdraw from Marathwada, most of Vidarbha and some other parts of the state as well. The monsoon's withdrawal line is currently passing through Supaul, Ranchi, Raipur, Brahmapuri, Parbhani, Baramati and Harne. Withdrawal from a few more parts of the state may be completed in the coming days.

Despite the chance of rain, the heat is being felt in many places. In the past 24 hours, Malegaon recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 38.4 degrees Celsius, while Jalgaon recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature at 17.2 degrees Celsius. As a result, there is a wide gap between maximum and minimum temperatures across the state.

This mix of showers in some areas and hot sun elsewhere may continue over the next few days as the monsoon withdraws.
