Chandrapur: MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has demanded a modern CCTV surveillance system for Ballarpur to ensure the safety of its residents and curb rising crime. He has asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to grant technical approval immediately and provide the necessary funds.

The Chief Minister took immediate note of the demand and has directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to take prompt action. Mungantiwar said he raised the issue with the government in the public interest, so that people can move about fearlessly in a safe environment and the police can keep effective control over crime.

Mungantiwar told the Chief Minister that the city's main squares, markets, sensitive spots and entry and exit routes need a modern CCTV surveillance system. Ballarpur is an important city industrially and commercially. According to him, the demand has been made so that serious crimes can be prevented, suspicious movements can be watched closely and the police can use new technology in their investigations. Given the seriousness of the issue, he also stressed the need for immediate steps to strengthen the city's security arrangements.

In line with Mungantiwar's demand, the Superintendent of Police, Chandrapur, has sent a detailed proposal to the Home Department. The proposal covers high-capacity CCTV cameras at the city's main and sensitive locations, a modern control room, recording and storage arrangements, networking, and the provisions needed for uninterrupted power supply.

The system would allow effective monitoring of suspicious activity, provide photographic and video evidence for crime investigations, and further strengthen law and order in the city.

Mungantiwar has repeatedly put the CCTV surveillance issue before the government with the aim of giving the people of Ballarpur a safe environment and firm law and order. Chief Minister Fadnavis took immediate note of the demand and directed the senior officials concerned to act. If the proposal receives technical approval and the necessary funds are made available, it would not only give effective control over crime but also deepen people's sense of security.
