The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has raised daily weekday trips on the Aqua Line from 291 to 337, shortening the gap between trains at peak hours to 4 minutes 25 seconds.

Good news for daily commuters on the Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line, or Metro Line 3. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has increased the number of trips on the line because the number of passengers keeps rising.

From Monday, November 2, 46 additional trips have been introduced on working days. This takes the daily number of trips from 291 to 337. MMRC said the decision will mean shorter waits for passengers at peak hours and make it easier to manage crowds.

The biggest difference in the new timetable will be seen during peak hours. The gap between two trains, earlier 4 minutes 50 seconds, has been cut to 4 minutes 25 seconds. With trains arriving more frequently, passengers at stations will not have to wait as long, and crowd pressure on platforms will also ease.

MMRC also set out how the trips have increased so far. When the metro began running on the full route from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade, 271 trips ran daily. Seeing the response from passengers, the number was raised to 282 on June 23, 2026, and then to 291 on September 28, 2026. With 46 more trips added, the figure on working days has now reached 337. Mumbai residents will get a more frequent and convenient metro service.

The change applies only to working days. On Saturdays and Sundays, the metro will continue to run on the separate weekend timetable as before.

According to MMRC, its aim is to give Mumbai residents a safe, reliable and effective metro service. Trips are being increased step by step in view of the rising number of passengers and their travel needs. Necessary changes will continue to be made to the timetable depending on passenger numbers and service requirements.
