The Aqua Line of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) has crossed the milestone of 7 crore passenger trips. Service on the full route from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade is about to complete one year, and 7,18,52,473 passenger trips have been recorded on the line so far. The figure is evidence of the growing response to Mumbai's first underground metro line.

The line is getting good support from commuters. In September 2026, an average of 2,24,602 people travelled on the Aqua Line every day from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the daily average was 1,31,138 passengers. The figures show that the Aqua Line is becoming more important in the daily commute of Mumbaikars.

To mark the milestone, MMRC is set to launch two special initiatives. The first is the Aqua Line Time Capsule and the second is the Aqua Line Passport and Stamps.

The time capsule is said to be the first such initiative in India's metro sector. Important documents, photographs, key milestones and memories from the building of the Aqua Line to its commissioning will be preserved in it. It is an effort to save for future generations a picture of the Aqua Line and of Mumbai in 2026.

The aim of the second initiative, the Aqua Line Passport and Stamps, is to let passengers experience the Aqua Line journey in a more enjoyable and distinctive way. Under it, passengers and metro enthusiasts will be able to visit selected stations on the line and collect the special station stamps there.

MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide said, "The Aqua Line is completing one year of service on its full route. I sincerely thank Mumbaikars for making it a part of their daily lives. Touching the 7 crore passenger trips mark is a big sign that Mumbaikars trust the Aqua Line and have supported it. Initiatives such as the time capsule and the passport and stamp collection are our effort to celebrate this shared journey and preserve its memories for future generations."

MMRC hopes that Mumbaikars will keep choosing the Aqua Line for their daily travel.
