Nagpur aspirants protest MPSC paper leak, demand chairman Bhimanwar's resignation and 20,000 posts
MPSC aspirants from Nagpur and nearby areas held a protest at Tiranga Chowk over the alleged paper leak, seeking the chairman's resignation and a fair probe.
MPSC aspirants from Nagpur and surrounding areas took to the streets on Saturday against the alleged paper leak and irregularities in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination process. They held their protest at Tiranga Chowk in Nagpur.
The protesters demanded the immediate resignation of commission chairman Vivek Bhimanwar. Following the leak of the question paper for the drug inspector post examination, the students are questioning the transparency of the examination system.
The students said the inquiry into the matter must be fair and transparent. In their view, removing only the secretary from the post will not be enough. They also demanded that the entire commission leadership, including the chairman, be removed and an inquiry held.
MPSC chairman Vivek Bhimanwar had clarified in September that the leak of the drug inspector examination paper took place in January. He had said that he took the oath as chairman on February 18 and assumed charge on March 3.
The commission has filed a police complaint in the matter and an investigation is under way.
The students demanded that transparency in the examination process be ensured. They also said the State Services Main Examination should be held in the objective format from 2027, and that a clear timetable for upcoming examinations be released. In other words, the students want to know in advance when examinations will be held.
During the protest, the students also demanded that a notification for 20,000 posts be issued for MPSC Group C 2026 recruitment. They said the Group C examination proposed for January 3, 2027 should be held according to the fixed timetable. The dates of the Group A, B and C Main Examinations 2026 should also be announced immediately.
The students warned that the agitation would be intensified if action is not taken on their demands.
