Thane Lok Sabha MP Naresh Ganpat Mhaske has placed eight major demands before the Western Railway administration over the difficulties faced by passengers at Mira Road and Bhayandar railway stations. He has asked for better crowd management at the stations, facilities for women and children, convenience for elderly and differently abled passengers, additional AC local trains, express train stops, more ticket windows and more drinking water arrangements.

Mhaske drew attention to the demands in a letter sent on September 25, 2026 to the general manager of Western Railway at Churchgate, Mumbai. The letter says Mira Road and Bhayandar are important and crowded stations on the Western Railway route, used by large numbers of passengers every day. It stresses the need to speed up pending works to make travel safer and easier.

The first demand concerns the passenger deck at Mira Road station. A new passenger deck linked to the foot overbridge has been built to ease movement of passengers from south to north. According to the letter, the remaining work on it has to be completed and it is yet to be opened to passengers. The letter expresses hope that opening the deck will spread the crowd at the station and give passengers relief.

The second demand is for women and young children. Women travelling with children often face difficulty. To address this, the letter seeks a separate, safe and clean "Hirkani Kaksh", a baby feeding and care room, at both Mira Road and Bhayandar stations. This would give breastfeeding mothers and women travelling with children the privacy and convenience they need.

The third demand relates to platforms 3 and 4 at Bhayandar station. Given the difficulty passengers face in climbing and getting down there, the letter asks for escalators. It adds that if installing escalators is not possible for technical reasons, lifts should be provided for the elderly, women, children and differently abled passengers.

The fourth demand is for additional AC local trains. A very large number of passengers travel from the Mira-Bhayandar area towards Mumbai. AC locals are also heavily crowded during the morning and evening rush, so more AC local services have been sought on this route.

The fifth demand is for permission for five express trains to stop at Bhayandar station. If long-distance trains stop there, passengers from the area would have less need to travel to other stations in Mumbai, saving both time and trouble. The trains are the Bandra-Delhi Express, Bandra-Veraval Express, Bandra-Ahmedabad Express, Dadar-Bhuj Express and Bandra-Bhavnagar Express. The letter hopes the railway administration will examine the feasibility and take a positive decision.

The sixth demand is for a special premium train from Mumbai to Katra. Large numbers of devotees and tourists travel from Mumbai and its suburbs for darshan at Mata Vaishno Devi and to visit Jammu and Kashmir. For their convenience, the MP has suggested a special premium train such as a Rajdhani or Shatabdi Express.

The remaining demands concern ticket windows and drinking water. The letter says that with the rising number of passengers at Bhayandar station, long queues form for tickets, so the number of ticket windows should be increased to save passengers' time. It also seeks water vending machines at both Mira Road and Bhayandar stations to provide clean and affordable drinking water.

Mhaske has requested the Western Railway general manager to consider all eight demands seriously and instruct the officials concerned to act immediately. He has also asked that a progress report on the action taken be sent to his office. Rail passengers in Mira Road, Bhayandar and nearby areas are now watching what stand the Western Railway administration takes and which facilities it prioritises.
