Trucks and other heavy vehicles have been parked without restraint on the Padoli-Nagpur service road in Chandrapur for the past several days, raising fears of a major accident. Trucks, heavy vehicles and private cars are being parked on both sides of the service road without any check, causing daily traffic jams and inconvenience to the public and motorists.

At night, these vehicles parked on the roadside are not visible to other drivers in the dark, which could lead to a major accident at any time. With the service road rendered almost unusable, the main highway is bearing an extra traffic burden, and people are fed up with it. The service road was meant to allow local traffic to move easily, but the situation has now turned the other way.

To draw the administration's attention to this serious issue, the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNS) submitted a memorandum without delay to the Regional Transport Officer, the city traffic inspector and the officer in charge of Padoli police station, demanding strict action. A delegation of the MNS Chandrapur unit, led by district vice-president Kuldeep Sunil Chandankhede, handed over the memorandum to the administration.

The memorandum demands an immediate inspection of the Padoli-Nagpur service road and punitive action against vehicles parked there illegally. It also demands increased regular police patrolling and "no parking" boards wherever needed, to prevent heavy vehicles from parking there again. It further asks for vehicles obstructing the road to be removed at once, and for permanent measures to prevent such parking from recurring.

MNS office-bearers said this was a matter of citizens' safety and the administration should treat the issue seriously and take firm action immediately. The delegation included MNS district secretary Kishor Madgulwar, Krishna Gupta (Rugna Mitra), Raju Bhau Devagan, Shubham Wadhai, Vikram Borkar and Nikki Yadav, along with a large number of other MNS office-bearers and workers.
