Minister Atul Save has appealed to the administration to work in coordination so that government schemes do not remain on paper and reach the last person in society. He made the appeal in Pune. He also said emphasis should be laid on streamlining work so that the implementation of schemes becomes more effective.
Save is the Minister for Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, Dairy Development, Non-Conventional Energy and Welfare of Persons with Disabilities. He is also the chairman of Vanarti. He was speaking at the inauguration of a state-level residential training camp.
The camp is being held to mark the bicentenary year of the birth of Krantisurya Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. It is jointly organised by the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department of the Government of Maharashtra, Pune, and the Late Vasantrao Naik Research and Training Institute (Vanarti), Nagpur. The two-day residential camp will be held on October 24 and 25 at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) in Pune.
Several dignitaries attended the inauguration. Those present included Uddhav Kale, president of the Bhatke-Vimukt Vikas Parishad, Maharashtra; Appasaheb Dhulaj, secretary of the Other Backward and Bahujan Welfare Department; and Prashant Wavge, managing director of Vanarti. State-level non-official members Rajendra Donadkar, Dr Sanjay Puri, Naresh Pote and Sharad Makar also attended.
In his speech, Save said coordination among the agencies concerned is necessary if schemes are to be implemented effectively. While following administrative rules and procedures, attention should be paid to how field-level work can be made more capable and effective, he said. He also said the training would help the department implement its schemes in a more streamlined manner.
Non-official members of the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, the department's field officers and field officers of the Revenue Department are taking part in the camp. During the training, guidance has been given on the department's various schemes, government rules and procedures, administrative responsibilities, effective implementation of schemes and field-level coordination.
Schemes are implemented for the welfare of the Bahujan community, keeping in view the social transformation envisaged by Mahatma Phule's egalitarian thought. The main aim of the camp is to give these schemes greater momentum. Prashant Wavge, managing director of Vanarti, said the camp is being held jointly by the Directorate of the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, Pune, and Vanarti, Nagpur.
