Jeep launches Compass Sport 9AT in India at Rs 21.99 lakh with 9-speed automatic

American automobile maker Jeep has introduced a new variant, the Compass Sport 9-speed automatic (Compass Sport 9AT), in the Indian market. The SUV is priced at Rs 21.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Compass Sport variant gets a 9-speed automatic gearbox for the first time, making it the cheapest Compass with an automatic transmission.

According to the company, deliveries of the model will begin from the second week of next month.

The Compass Sport 9AT is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder MultiJet II turbo diesel engine that produces 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes as standard. The automatic gearbox can help in both daily city commutes and highway driving. The company has made no major mechanical changes in this variant.

The SUV has a frequency selective damping suspension system, a technology that helps change the suspension's response according to road conditions. A dynamic steering torque system makes it easier to keep control of the steering.

The cabin has a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Steering-mounted controls and electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors are also provided.

For safety, the model has 6 airbags, cruise control and an auto hold function. Buyers can also opt for a separate accessory pack priced at Rs 29,900. It includes ambient cabin lighting, a dashcam with predictive safety functions, exterior swoosh decals, all-weather floor mats and mud flaps. These accessories are not part of the standard features and have to be chosen separately.

The ex-showroom price of the full Jeep Compass range runs from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 30.95 lakh. Buyers are advised to check variant-wise features, delivery and the on-road price with their nearest Jeep dealer before buying. The on-road price may vary according to the city and applicable charges.
