Gondia, October 15: The process of filling forms for the PM YASASVI pre-matric and post-matric scholarship schemes for Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC) and Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNT) students for the academic year 2026-27 is under way. Eligible students must apply on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or the MahaDBT portal, depending on the nature of the scheme.
The last date for submitting forms is October 30, 2026. Tushar Gurav, assistant director of the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, has appealed to schools and colleges to ensure that the forms of all eligible students are filled on time.
As per the Central government's guidelines, from the academic year 2026-27 the PM YASASVI schemes will be implemented on the NSP as per the prescribed instructions. Students should therefore find out which portal is designated for their scheme before filling the form.
Under the pre-matric scholarship, the "PM YASASVI Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme For OBC, EBC & DNT Students", boys and girls studying in Classes 9 and 10 whose parents' annual income is below Rs 2.5 lakh will apply on the National Scholarship Portal.
Forms of girls in Classes 9 and 10 whose parents' annual income is above Rs 2.5 lakh will be filled on the MahaDBT portal under the Savitribai Phule scholarship scheme. Forms of girls in Classes 5 and 8 are also to be filled on the MahaDBT portal as before.
Forms for the following schemes will also be filled on the MahaDBT portal: the Zilla Parishad merit scholarship for VJNT and SBC students of secondary schools; the Gunwant scholarship, limited to Mumbai; the scheme for payment of tuition and examination fees for below poverty line (BPL) students in private unaided and permanently unaided schools; and the maintenance allowance for students of Sainik schools.
Under the post-matric scholarship, the "PM YASASVI Post Matric Scholarship Scheme For OBC, EBC & DNT Students", fresh forms of OBC, SBC and VJNT students are to be filled on the National Scholarship Portal only. This covers the post-matric scholarships for OBC students, SBC students and VJNT students, as well as the post-matric scholarship for OBC girls taking admission to professional courses. The MahaDBT portal will not offer a facility for fresh forms under these four schemes, so colleges should inform students about filling forms on the NSP.
Forms for seven schemes will be submitted on the MahaDBT portal as before. These are: the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj merit scholarship (for VJNT and SBC students of Classes 11 and 12); the maintenance allowance for VJNT and SBC students studying in professional courses and staying in hostels attached to professional colleges; the vocational training fee reimbursement scheme for OBC, SBC and VJNT students; the separate tuition fee and examination fee reimbursement schemes for OBC, SBC and VJNT students; and the vocational training fee reimbursement scheme for eligible OBC, VJNT and SBC students.
The department has made it clear that if there is any delay in filling forms, the school or college concerned will be held responsible. All schools and colleges should therefore inform eligible students about the schemes, give the necessary help in filling forms and ensure that the forms of 100 per cent of eligible students are submitted within the stipulated period.
Assistant director Tushar Gurav has also asked students to keep the last date, October 30, 2026, in mind and submit their forms on the designated portal with the required documents.
