Veteran actor Nana Patekar died of a heart attack today, October 8, at the age of 75. He suffered the attack at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, and was admitted to Manipal Hospital for treatment, but died there during treatment.
Patekar always preferred to stay away from the glare of fame. In this respect he was quite different from many other performers in the Hindi film industry. The question therefore arises of what his relationship with technology and social media was. Here is a look at it.
In one interview, Patekar was seen holding a smartphone. It was not an iPhone but a mobile phone running Android. Most people in the film industry use iPhones. Going by the back panel of the phone in his hand, it appears to have been the Ultra variant of the Samsung Galaxy S series, a flagship handset with a 200-megapixel camera.
Patekar had accounts on all three social media platforms, Instagram, X and Facebook. He followed superstar Amitabh Bachchan on all of them. Of the three, he used Instagram. His Instagram account has 365,000 followers, while he himself followed only six accounts, Amitabh Bachchan among them. His Instagram has 292 posts in all.
Patekar also has an account on X, formerly Twitter, but he did not use the platform very actively. His last post on X was on March 20 and was about a film.
He has an account on Facebook as well. His last post there was on June 25 and was about the film 'O Romeo'.
Patekar did not use many gadgets. As a smartphone has become a basic necessity these days, he kept one. The digital life of the actor, who lived simply, far from a world of show, was much the same.
