Mercedes-Benz has launched the facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India. The ex-showroom price of its S 580e plug-in hybrid variant is Rs 3.35 crore. Only 30 units have been made available in the first batch.
This is the first Maybach in India to come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Mercedes says Maybach variants account for about 50 per cent of the S-Class sold in India.
The S 580e has a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine and an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 443hp and 560Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 160hp and 480Nm. Together, the system output is 585hp and 750Nm. All-wheel drive is standard and the top speed is 140kph.
The car has a 22kWh battery, which allows it to run up to 98km on electric power alone. It has three drive modes: Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold. Energy recovery options and one-pedal driving are also offered. For charging, there is an 11kW AC onboard charger and support for DC fast charging of up to 60kW. Air suspension and rear-axle steering are also standard.
Special attention has been paid to the comfort of rear passengers. The four-seat layout has executive rear seats and a full-length business console. The seats recline up to 43 degrees and come with heating, ventilation and massage functions. A fold-out tray table, wireless charging and a temperature-controlled cup holder are also provided.
At the front are an MBUX Superscreen, a 3D driver display and Maybach-specific graphics. For sound, the car has a 31-speaker Burmester 4D system, an augmented reality head-up display and two entertainment screens at the rear. On the outside, it has a large illuminated grille, Maybach's vertical slats and 20-inch forged Maybach wheels.
