Mercedes-Benz's much-awaited electric GLC is ready to arrive in India. The company will launch the electric SUV in the Indian market on November 4, 2026. Initially, only one variant, the GLC 400 4Matic, will be available, and it will be built at the Chakan plant in Pune. Bookings are likely to open from October.

On power, the GLC 400 4Matic has two permanently excited synchronous electric motors. With all-wheel drive, the SUV produces 489 PS of power and 800 Nm of torque. It takes only 4.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, and its top speed is 210 km/h. The rear electric motor is paired with a 2-speed gearbox.

The car has a 94 kWh usable battery and an 800V electrical architecture. According to the company's claim, it can deliver a range of up to 715 km on the WLTP cycle. DC fast charging capacity is 330 kW, and charging from 10 to 80 per cent may take only 22 minutes. In the right conditions, 10 minutes of charging can add up to 305 km of range.

There is plenty of luggage space too. The electric GLC has 570 litres of boot space, which increases to 1,740 litres when the rear seats are folded. There is also a 128-litre frunk at the front. A multi-source heat pump helps improve the efficiency of the electric drive and the high-voltage battery by drawing heat from the outside air.

The suspension has a four-link front and multi-link rear setup. If the Technology Package is chosen, the SUV gets Airmatic air suspension, intelligent damping and rear-wheel steering of up to 4.5 degrees. This reduces the turning circle from 12.1 metres to 11.2 metres.

The biggest attraction in the interior is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. The company says it is the largest screen on any Mercedes-Benz production model. The new MB.OS software controls infotainment, charging and other vehicle functions. With Digital Light and MB.Drive driver-assistance technology, the electric GLC emphasises modern technology along with luxury.

The range, charging and power figures are those given by the company.
