Actor Raj Hanchanale, known for the Marathi television serial 'Sanai Choughade', has become a father. A baby girl has been born at his home. Marking the occasion, he shared an emotional post on social media in which he expressed respect for his wife's motherhood and put forward his thoughts on the strength of women.
In the post, Hanchanale described what it was like to watch his wife go through unbearable pain during labour. He wrote that he had never felt so helpless in his life. He spoke of the feeling of being unable to do anything for the person closest to him as she endured pain. He said the thought running through his mind was: "God, let me do something for her. If only I could have borne all this in her place." He also shared that in that moment he understood the difference between loving someone and suffering for love.
Speaking of women's strength, Hanchanale pointed to the experience of becoming a mother. He asked whether one can truly realise a woman's strength without watching her become a mother. He said that a woman finds the courage to face the very pain before which others are helpless, and brings a new life into the world. He also wrote that he could not share his wife's pain, but the experience changed the person within him. He said his love and respect for his wife had grown many times over and that he bowed before her motherhood.
After becoming a father, Hanchanale also made a special promise to his daughter. He said he would try to build a world in which she does not have to struggle with anyone to prove her strength. He said he would make her aware that she is lesser than no one and that her freedom and her voice matter in their own right. In the post he also expressed the hope that women should never have to fight for equality.
The post carries more than the joy of becoming a father. It also reflects a change in his own thinking brought about by a new experience. He said the birth of his daughter had changed his outlook towards women afresh. The joy of fatherhood, love for his wife and a wish for his daughter's bright future all come through in the post.
