Vibhavari Pradhan regrets few film offers despite a long run in TV serials

Actress Vibhavari Pradhan, who won over viewers through Marathi and Hindi serials, has spoken openly about her film journey. She reached homes across the state through the serial Ya Gojirvanya Gharat. But because she was constantly busy with television serials, she did not get as many chances in films as she had hoped, and she expressed regret over this. Notably, she has acted in one Marathi film and also one Bhojpuri film.

In an interview to Rajshri Marathi, Pradhan spoke about her experience of the Bhojpuri film, titled Hamke Maafi Deid. She made it while Ya Gojirvanya Gharat was still running.

Pradhan said the Bhojpuri language was new to her, so she had to work hard to remember the dialogues. She would literally memorise them by rote. The film was shot in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas.

When shooting took place in villages, local people gathered in large numbers to see the actress who had come from Mumbai. Pradhan, who delivered her dialogues comfortably in front of the camera, did not know how to respond when people came up to talk to her directly. For this reason, people misunderstood and assumed she was showing attitude, she said. The Bhojpuri film experience was different and memorable for her.

Besides the Bhojpuri film, Pradhan has acted in the Marathi film Vaibhav Laxmi, in which she got to work with actress Alka Kubal. In the interview she said that she has done only two films so far, one Marathi and one Bhojpuri.

She voiced regret that despite wanting to act in films, she did not get many opportunities. Since she kept working continuously in television serials, she guesses that producers must have seen her only as a television actress.

Explaining why she has done few films, Pradhan said that offers for films simply did not come. Had she got the chance, she would certainly have done films.

She also feels that being so deeply involved in television may have created a misunderstanding that she would not do films. For this reason, she may not even have been asked about Marathi films, she said with regret.

Pradhan has made a distinct mark on the small screen with her acting. Her pain at not getting a chance despite wanting to work in films is sure to draw the attention of her admirers.
