Monsoon stays weak, no heavy rain likely in Maharashtra for next 5-6 days
Rain deficit persists across Maharashtra with no major spell expected soon; Nagpur and Mumbai see warm, humid weather today
Maharashtra has not seen a favourable monsoon this year. During the June to September monsoon season, several parts of the state have recorded a significant rainfall deficit. There has been light to moderate rain in some places, but no widespread heavy rain across the entire state. This has raised concern among farmers as well as ordinary people. In several areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha, the rainfall shortage has directly affected farming.
Weather scientists say there is no likelihood of large-scale rain anywhere in Maharashtra over the next five to six days. The chances of heavy rain during this period are also being described as very low, meaning the current weather conditions could continue for a few more days. If there is any major change in the weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) will issue a fresh update.
Meanwhile, the time for the monsoon withdrawal process to begin from mid-September has also arrived. Once the monsoon starts withdrawing from Rajasthan, its effect is seen on the weather in other states as well. The monsoon usually withdraws from Maharashtra in October, but according to weather scientists, below-average rainfall is likely this time even during the withdrawal period.
