The twice-yearly entrance test, so far limited to engineering and management, is being extended to all other courses with admissions in the state.
The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions in Maharashtra will now be held twice a year. So far the arrangement was limited to engineering and management courses, but preparations are under way to extend it to all other courses with admissions in the state. The information has emerged in Nagpur district. The aim is to give students who are unhappy with their scores another chance to improve them.
Last year the CET was held twice for major courses such as engineering and management. More than 14 lakh students in the state benefited. In view of that experience, the same rule is now being applied to all other courses.
Besides professional and technical courses, other higher education courses will also be covered. These include law and BEd. The CET will be held twice a year for these courses too. This means that if a student feels after the first test that the marks could have been better, a second chance will be easily available.
To ensure the examinations run smoothly, the CET Cell is preparing a new working procedure. It has been said that the process will be completed in the next 15 days. It will cover examination centres, the method of conducting the tests, and the rules. The entire system for evaluating answer sheets will also be part of it.
Separately, it is being said that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University has been selected for an IBM Quantum project. The university has thereby made a distinct name for itself globally.
Education experts believe this important change will considerably reduce the mental pressure of examinations on students. With a second chance in hand, students will be able to improve their academic performance without any additional stress. According to the experts, they will be able to move confidently towards a bright future in technical and higher education.
